Perched right where the town meets the Atlantic waves, the Walter Raleigh Hotel sits in the ultimate front-row seat on Youghal’s promenade. You step out the front door and you’re instantly met with fresh, salty sea air, the sound of gulls laughing, and views across the water that make you want to grab an ice cream and just wander along the shore.
Inside, it ditches any stiff, high-nosed formalities for genuine Irish coastal charm. It feels vibrant, easygoing, and thoroughly lived-in. On a bright summer day, the place buzzes with sun-dazed walkers ducking in for cold pints and hot chips; on a wild, stormy afternoon, it turns into the coziest hangout in East Cork, where you can kick back in a comfy chair, watch the rain pelt the ocean outside, and lose track of an entire afternoon over a good chat and a warm drink.
This is exactly the sort of place that suited Louise and Martin for their wedding day. Locals to Youghal, it was only ever going to be The Walter Raleigh! Louise was grace and kindness all rolled into one. The couple so gentle with each other and always aware of the comfort of others. We had a fun spin around the town capturing spots dear to them and ended with a formal, however relaxing dinner and party into the night. A super fun wedding to be a part of.
